Flying to and Accommodating in Lagos

Since past few decades, Lagos has set many reasons that bring in millions of tourists to Nigeria. The city’s ever growing economy combines with its culture, outstanding museums, buoyancy and exotic beaches to create a reason for the tourists to come down to Lagos. Hence mass influx of tourists, especially international travelers, in the city effectively signals airline companies, who in return, make cheap flights to Lagos widely available.

Some of the major airlines serving Lagos from Europe are Air France, British Airways, Lufthansa, Iberia, Turkish Airlines, Alitalia, Virgin Atlantic and KLM. From inside the African continent, Kenya Airways, Afriqiyah Airways, Royal Air Maroc, Egypt Air, and South African Airlines are mostly the tourists’ choices for Lagos flights. However, Ethiopian Airlines is rapidly growing in popularity and improving its reputation amongst travelers. China Southern Airlines is the only carrier that flies to Lagos from Asia. It connects the city of Lagos with Shanghai, Guangzhou and Dubai. Middle East is connected to Lagos through Emirates, Qatar Airways and Middle East Airlines. Nigeria’s national carrier, Air Nigeria, connects Lagos to many cities within Africa while outside the continent, it only flies to London. It also flies domestically between many cities. Arik Air, Overland Airways, IRS Airlines, Dana Air, Chanchangi Airlines and Aero Contractors cover great distances within Nigeria. All these airlines are privately owned and their flights combine to form a good aviation infrastructure for Nigeria. Aero Contractors connects Lagos internationally only to Accra, Ghana. Arik Air has many destinations internationally around Europe, the Americas and Middle East and. For international travelers, it is easy to find flight services to Lagos via Europe. Also, since Europe is best connected to Lagos, European travelers should find direct flights to Lagos more easily. London offers the highest number of flights to Lagos.
